Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. This score is more respectable than this place's overall grade. We believe that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 11 deficiencies on its inspection report. Another area of concern is that CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Our nursing grade is primarily tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides only 0 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a somewhat discouraging figure which is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. While this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this subcategory. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning patients at least once a day.

This facility's third best area ended up being its short-term care grade, where it received a B-. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The important question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below the national average.

Historical

The last area we assessed was long-term care. This facility was given a C for the category. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccines. We were a bit worried that this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to only 80.141846 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. While it had 2.46 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was better than most facilities since it had some more complicated patients.
