Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We also would like to emphasize the fact that this facility has received nearly flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to note the fact that this nursing home was awarded a superb score of A in our short-term care area. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This grade is frequently a meaningful assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was given a fine long-term care grade. In fact, this is this nursing home's third most impressive category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. When facilities receive this kind of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 98.288506 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth area we analyzed was nursing, where this facility was given a grade of B+. This wrapped up a very impressive profile. Not many facilities received a B+ or better in in each area we assessed. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of training of the nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as predictive measures of the quality of nursing care being provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
