Facility Inspections
On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Inspection grades are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility truly excelled in the category of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Only a select group of facilities performed more favorably in this area. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 78.085106 percent of its patients. This is a bit less than we were hoping for. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility received its third most favorable category grade in the area of short-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of B- in this category, which is an acceptable grade. Our short-term care grades are considered to be most meaningful for people needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this nursing home. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. This figure was below average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our last area, this nursing home didn't fare very well. Due to a poor grade of F in nursing, this was notably this nursing home's weakest category grade. There are a host of data points included in this grade. Many of the criteria are tied to nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Unfortunately, this place also didn't fare as well as we hoped in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed in this category.
