In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. The nursing rating consists of several factors, however, the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provided 5 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This was one of the higher figures we found. Furthermore, a significant percentage of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. Both of these statistics are impressive. On top of providing high levels of care, this place also excelled in several of the quality measures we looked at. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category.

We also wanted to alert you to the fact that this facility was superb in our short-term care category. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. In our short-term care rating, we strive to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. This place is above average both in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients. Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In the final category we rated, this facility was awarded a very strong grade of A in our long-term care category. With this score, the facility topped off a straight A report card. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. On top of looking at the elite quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff at this nursing home, we also were pleased by the nursing home's vaccination statistics. By way of example, this facility gave the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. This combination proved to be successful as this place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
