Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our highest scores in that category with an A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility only received a D for its long-term care rating, which happens to be one of its higher category scores. Facilities that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to only 80.17242 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade assesses quite a few datapoints, most of which are associated with nursing hours. This nursing home averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the final area, we awarded this nursing home a D for the area of short-term care. This was the nursing home's least impressive category grade. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.
