Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a quality facility overall, this nursing home really excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Not many facilities fared better in that category. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Contributing to its profile, this facility also received a grade of B for its long-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.375 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia can be a life threatening health condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's third most favorable category was short-term care. We gave it a C in this area. This is basically a slightly below average score in this category. Our short-term care scores are meaningful for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing services. This means a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we analyzed is nursing. For that category, we awarded this nursing home a C. The nursing score consists of a handful of data points, but the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared with most facilities. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.
