Long-term Care Quality
Even though we graded this nursing home extremely poorly overall, it received a more respectable long-term care grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that area. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.7543 percent of its patients, which is better than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of F. Our nursing score is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of training of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with patients. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this place's nurse staffing levels were well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
We wanted to point out this facility's inspection grade where it received an F. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection grade. We suggest you scrutinize the severity of the deficiencies. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is short-term care. We gave it a lowly F in this area, which is an abysmal grade. Our short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
