Facility Inspections
Although we gave this place a weak overall score, we awarded it a fairly respectable grade in the category of inspections, where it received a B-. This was better than its other category grades. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an B-. Nursing scores are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this area.

Short-term Care Quality
The third highest category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. In computing our short-term care ratings, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is often a useful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The key is determining what effect this had on the quality of care. The final measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this facility was given a decent long-term care score of C. Our long-term care ratings are more important for residents requiring more traditional services related to personal care. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is better than most nursing homes. This nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
