Facility Inspections
To go along with its favorable overall score, we gave this facility an A+ for inspections. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize negative health outcomes for the elderly population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. The nursing score weighs many datapoints, but the most important consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning residents at least once a day.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was short-term care. This nursing home received a favorable nursing grade this year, with a B. Even though this wasn't nearly as impressive as some of its other category grades, this remains one of the more favorable scores in this category. Our short-term care grades are thought to be most important for residents in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 4.6 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
