Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
Even though we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care rating this year. We gave it a C in that category. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical facility. The hope is that this does not adversely impact the quality of care. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home excelled in the category of nursing, where it received an D. Nursing ratings are primarily based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular facility averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This number is far below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home received a lowly F for its inspection grade. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection grade. We recommend you scrutinize the level of severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with one category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more serious categories of deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies found by the government inspectors had the potential to cause actual harm to residents. Finally, we also want to point out that this place received large government fines of more than $100,000. This generally means that a facility's poor track record spanned several years.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade in this area also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is definitely very concerning. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 99.44444 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
