On top of performing well overall, this nursing home received an excellent inspection report. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this area with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Adding to its dominant achievements in other areas, we awarded this facility a score of A- for its short-term care score. Our short-term care grades are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

This facility also received a very strong long-term care grade. This actually turned out to be its third strongest category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. For patients in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 85.89743 percent of its residents. This is slightly lower than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

The final area we assessed was nursing, where this nursing home received a grade of B+. This wrapped up an elite report card. Few facilities earned a B+ or higher in every single category. The nursing score weighs several factors, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Ohio in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving residents more often.
