Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our best scores. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The second highest category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. Our short-term care grade is generally used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we analyzed is long-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a C in this category. In computing our long-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated only 86.14719 percent of its patients. Nevertheless, this nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The last category we looked at was nursing, turned out to be this facility's weakest area. We awarded this nursing home a D in this area. The nursing score is based on a handful of data points, most of which are based on nursing hours. With a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this facility's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
