Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to point out its decent grade of B- in the category of nursing. Our nursing grade is based on several datapoints, most of which are associated with nursing hours. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Facility Inspections
We actually gave this nursing home a very solid grade in the area of inspections as well. In fact, we gave it a B- in this category. This is better than many nursing homes in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable category came in the area of short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a C. With our short-term care score, we attempt to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 1.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the next area, we gave this facility a grade of D for long-term care. This was the facility's weakest category grade. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 98.33333 percent of its residents, which is more than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
