This facility received a strong overall score as described above, but we especially wanted to emphasize its excellent short-term care grade. We gave them an A in this category. In computing these short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to devise a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 6.9 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Turning to another one of this facility's strengths, it also earned a very impressive inspection grade. Inspections proved to be one of its best category grades. We awarded this nursing home an A. Inspection ratings are based on several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's inspection reports. Places that score well in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily something to panic about.

Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of B- in this category is by no means a bad score. Our nursing rating is largely associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This figure is far below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

This nursing home's worst category is long-term care, which is the last category we analyzed. In this area, we gave this nursing home an D. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 81.75675 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
