Linden Court is one of just three available nursing homes located in North Platte, Nebraska. This facility is one of the top nursing homes we assessed. Receiving an A+ in our rating system requires superb marks across the board. In fact, we were so impressed with this nursing home that we ranked it as the top facility in North Platte. Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life threatening ailment for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also received a high-end short-term care score. This actually ended up being this nursing home's second strongest category score. In that area, this facility received a grade of A. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Moving on to our inspection category, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we gave it an impressive grade of A for that category. Inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Moving on to the next area, this facility received a highly favorable nursing rating. We awarded it a grade of A in this category, giving this facility straight A's. Nursing scores are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
