Facility Inspections
On top of faring well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. Therefore, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Short-term Care Quality
An additional quality feature for this facility is that it was given a favorable short-term care score. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category score. In this category, we gave this facility a B+. Our short-term care grades are presumably most important for folks needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our more favorable scores in our long-term care category as well, with a B+. Facilities that do well in this category tend to provide patients with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Nurse Quality
The last area we looked at is nursing. This nursing home was awarded a strong nursing grade in our assessment, with a C. Although this wasn't nearly as strong as many of its other category grades, this remains a respectable score for that category. Our nursing rating assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a relatively low total compared with most other facilities. While this nursing home ranked poorly in terms of the quantity of nursing care available, it actually performed admirably in a few of our quality measures. It was above average in two of the subcategories we assess, with favorable scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
