Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility earned a far better grade for short-term care than its overall score. In fact, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A-. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

This facility also received a strong inspection score. Inspection grades are based on the nursing home's recent government inspections. We gave this nursing home an above average grade of B in this area. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. Our nursing score is based on quite a few datapoints, many of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility's worst category is long-term care, which is the last category we looked at. It received an F for this category. Even with some respectable grades in other areas, this score is still disappointing so we felt obligated to point it out. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility gave the vaccine to just 83.63637 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
