To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

This high end facility also performed well in the category of short-term care, where it received a score of A+. Only a small group of facilities fared better in this area. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. This facility is above average both in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility in Florida in this area with 68.3 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, at most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-stay residents are able to return home.

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. The nursing score consists of several factors, however, the primary one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This particular nursing home provided 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This was one of the highest figures we found. In addition, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. On top of providing high levels of care, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the number of its patients suffering falls resulting in serious injury, this place performed as well as any nursing home the country.

The final category we assessed is long-term care, where this facility received a B-. This turned out to be this facility's least impressive category. This is nevertheless not the end of the world. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 99.23664 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. While it had 1.82 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was better than most facilities due to it having some more complicated patients.
