Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care rating. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 92.0398 percent of its patients. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive scores, this nursing home was given a strong short-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in that area. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is considered to be a solid assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Another impressive feature of this facility is its inspection grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home received a highly favorable nursing grade. We awarded it a grade of A- in this area, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. Our nursing rating looks at the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This nursing home fared well in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided with better nursing care.
