On top of earning a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. In calculating these short-term care grades, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This facility also performed at a high level in the category of inspections. It earned a nearly flawless inspection report this year. It earned one of our best grades in that category with a grade of B+. Inspection scores weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

The last category we scored was long-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of B+. This completed a very strong report card. Few facilities received a B+ or better in every category. Facilities that do well in this category typically provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
