The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection score. In fact, its inspection score was far superior to its overall grade. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area typically have few of these severe deficiencies. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Another one of this facility's more impressive category scores was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B+. In determining our short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is more often than not a solid measure of the facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an D. The nursing rating features a number of factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

The next area we looked at is long-term care. It received an F for this category, which is a rock bottom score. This is certainly a major concern.
