Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with a strong overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A+ for inspections. Our inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor dings aren't something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many elite scores, this facility was given first-rate short-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A- in that area. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Finally, we considered the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The third area we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home was awarded an above average long-term care grade, with a B+ in this area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.69879 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final category we scored is nursing, in which this facility received a grade of B. Although this wound up being its least impressive category rating, this is nevertheless a quality grade. Our nursing score is based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these statistics as reliable measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
