Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home has received excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this area. Our inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many dominant scores, this facility received first-rate short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A in this area. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more meaningful for folks needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing services. This includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 6.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also was awarded a high-end long-term care grade. Indeed, this is this nursing home's third most impressive category score. In that area, we gave this facility a score of A-. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are kept in good health. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

The last area we looked at is nursing, where this facility was given an A-. This topped off a first-rate report card. Only a select few nursing homes earned an A- or higher in each of our categories. In computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we assess the amount of time nurses commit to residents as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these statistics as predictive measures of the quality of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
