Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home received a short-term care score which is stronger than its overall score. We awarded this nursing home a B in this area. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. We were not able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

This facility also earned a favorable inspection score. In fact, its inspection grade turned out to be its second best category. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we still had positive view of this nursing home's inspections.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities third best category is long-term care. We gave it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road score in this category. Our long-term care grades are meaningful for residents looking for personal care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 95.32374 percent of its residents, which is higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The final area we assessed was nursing, which turned out to be this nursing home's worst area. We awarded this facility a D in that area. Nursing scores are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place averaged only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Unfortunately, this place also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers. This facility was at more than double the national average in this datapoint. This is quite concerning when you consider that so many bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of receiving a weak nursing score.
