Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this place also earned first-rate health inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better scores in this category, with an A+. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B. Our nursing score is based on a number of datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third category we analyzed is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of B- in this area. Our short-term care grades are likely most critical for residents in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last category we rated was long-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 98.08612 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
