Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. On top of providing impressive levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. With less than 5 percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is often an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls. Many pressure ulcers can be prevented by offering better nursing care and a policy of turning patients at least once a day.
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
