While this facility's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it didn't perform terribly in our short-term care rating. We awarded it a B- for that category, which is a decent score. However, this wasn't enough to salvage its profile. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to grade a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This nursing home improved its score in this area by offering more physical therapy hours than the typical facility. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. This place fared well in this area with 58.3 percent of its residents returning home.

This nursing home performed well in the area of inspections as well. In fact, we gave it a B- for that category, which is a respectable score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Historical

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. The nursing score consists of quite a few components, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is slightly below average. Finally, we also looked at a few quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility was above average in two of the major statistics we considered, with solid scores for avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

D
Oct 18: FNov 18: DDec 18: DJan 19: FFeb 19: FMay 19: FJun 19: FJul 19: FAug 19: FSep 19: FJan 20: DMar 20: DApr 20: DMay 20: DJun 20: DJul 20: DAug 20: D
Historical

Turning to our last category, we awarded this facility a grade of D in our long-term care category. This was the facility's least impressive category rating. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable statistic. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
