Grade: A-minus

On top of performing well in its overall score, this nursing home received a first-rate nursing rating. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- in that area. Nursing ratings are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many impressive grades, this nursing home was given an excellent long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in that area. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure patients are well cared for. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home is also above average in the area of short-term care, where it was awarded a score of B+. It outperformed most facilities in this category. In crafting these short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final metric we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Lastly, we wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's nearly flawless government inspections. We awarded them a B+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
