Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility received an A+ inspection score. This is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can pay to a facility. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A few relatively minor deficiencies aren't necessarily something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility performed well in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of A for that area, which happens to be one of our most dominant grades. In calculating our short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this area is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. We analyzed the levels of nurses employed by the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours those nurses were with residents, in determining our grade in this area. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning residents even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we assessed was this facility's poorest category. Nevertheless, even in its weakest link we still gave it a decent grade of C for long-term care. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated 83.695656 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be quite a few points below the national average. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
