Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of long-term care, this nursing home received just a D in this category. As it turns out, this ended up being one of its best areas. Facilities that don't score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 64.20119 percent of its patients. This is many points lower than what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
Our next category we graded is short-term care, where this facility was given an F. In the area of short-term care, we try to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. With a grade this poor in this area, we weren't stunned to learn this nursing home was below average in multiple staffing areas we focus on. The facility offered substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
The next area we rated was nursing. This nursing home received a rock bottom grade of F in that category. Nursing scores are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. This facility also had terrible scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were quite disappointed. This place was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic. This is a bad sign when you consider that so many bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. This statistic helped pull down this nursing home's nursing rating quite a bit.
