Facility Inspections

While we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that had a long list of severe deficiencies. We weren't able to locate deficiency data for this facility. We wish we had more information about this nursing home. Without having access to complete deficiency data, it is challenging to evaluate it in this area.

Short-term Care Quality

This nursing home's second best category is short-term care, but it nevertheless earned just a D in that category. This turns out to be a relatively poor grade. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

This facility also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based metrics to go along with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percent of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This nursing home was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic. This is likely a bad sign in light of the fact that so many bed sores could be avoided with better nursing care. This statistic helped pull down this facility's nursing score quite a bit.
