On top of earning a great overall rating, this nursing home fared even better in the area of inspections which is associated with the facility's recent inspection reports. We awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our best grades. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility also was awarded an impressive long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this category. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.24561 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia can be a deadly health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

The third category we assessed is short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B- in this area. Our short-term care scores are arguably more critical for people needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. The final metric we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 44.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

The final area we scored was nursing. This facility received a grade of C for this area. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with levels of nurse staffing. Based on the CMS data, this nursing home offers 3.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This nursing home was relatively weak in some of the major areas we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable measures of the quality of nursing care offered.
