Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. Our inspection ratings are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Building on its impressive resume, this facility also excelled in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it an B for that category. In computing our nursing grades, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third category we analyzed was short-term care, where this nursing home was given a B- in this area. In our short-term care score, we seek to forge a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we graded was long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. In forming our long-term care scores, we quantify the facility's personal care services. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to a relatively low 90.39548 percent of its patients, which is slightly concerning. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
