Short-term Care Quality
Moving on our third category, we awarded this facility a grade of A for our short-term care rating. This is a very impressive rating. Our short-term care grade is often employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation To provide highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was long-term care, where this facility was given a grade of A. This rounded out a very strong report card. Very few nursing homes earned an A- or better in all four categories. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 97.674416 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
