Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical area. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. We weren't able to locate deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Contributing to its dominant resume, this nursing home also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, we gave it a score of A- for the category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 85.496185 percent of its patients, which is a bit lower than we expected. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The next area we analyzed was short-term care. This facility was awarded a very positive short-term care grade, with a B+ in the category. In determining these short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The next category we rated is nursing. This nursing home was given a very good nursing rating in our assessment, with a grade of B. Although this isn't nearly as impressive as a few of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of our more impressive scores for this category. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these data points as predictive measures of the caliber of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
