Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home earned an elite short-term care rating. We gave this facility an impressive grade of A- in this category, which really helped its overall score. In determining our short-term care scores, we size up the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This grade is generally a reliable assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. We were not able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Inspections is another category where this nursing home excelled. We awarded this facility an A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. Nursing grades are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, our nursing scores also factor in quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility's worst category was long-term care, which is the final area we scored. It received an abysmal F in this category. Even with some acceptable grades in other areas, this score is nevertheless of a concern so we wanted to make a note of it. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 38.095238 percent of its residents. This is pretty significantly below the national average. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
