Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to point out its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We also gave this facility a middle of the pack grade in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a C. Our long-term care ratings are essential for individuals seeking personal care. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.15385 percent of its patients, which is higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. When calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is short-term care. We gave it an F in this area, which is a poor grade. In the category of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. With a grade this poor in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this facility was well below average in two of the key staffing areas we assess. It provided substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics doomed this facility's short-term care score.
