Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade is mostly based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared with most other facilities. Finally, our nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its patients.

We were also stunned to discover that this nursing home received a solid long-term care grade in our assessment. We gave it a grade of C in that category. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 98.6711 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.06 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Tragically, this facility received an F for its short-term care score. Short-term care grades are critical for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy.
