Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Even though we graded this facility extremely poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a C in this area. The nursing grade considers a number of datapoints. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a relatively low total compared with most facilities. Finally, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this statistic.
Facility Inspections
We also wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's inspection grades where it received an F. This generally means we found some red flags on the inspection reports. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection rating. We recommend you pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home was assessed one deficiency by CMS. We were relieved to find that it was not in a category that suggests that it caused a risk to patient safety or health. Lastly, we also want to point out that this place was assessed large government fines recently totaling more than $100,000. This often means that a facility'spoor track record spanned several years.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility wound up receiving a an abysmal grade in our short-term care category. It received a lowly F in this category. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be most critical for individuals in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Based on its abysmal grade in this category, we were not shocked to learn this facility offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.5 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth category, this facility did not fare very well in this area either. With an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated 50.295856 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is several points lower than what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
