While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. We weighed the qualifications of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours those nurses were with patients, in calculating our grade in this category. This facility provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing grades also consider quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

This facility also didn't fare poorly in the category of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of C for that category, which turned out to be another one of its better scores. Our long-term care grades are more important for those in need of more traditional services associated with personal care. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated 83.612045 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be significantly lower than what we were hoping for. Nevertheless, this nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Unfortunately, this nursing home only earned a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which is well below average in this category. Our short-term care grades are crucial for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed.
