Nurse Quality
Although we didn't give this nursing home a good overall score, we did give it a strong grade in the area of nursing, where it received a B+. The nursing category is based on several datapoints, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable category is long-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this area. This is basically a middle of the pack grade in this category. Long-term care grades focus on a nursing home's assistance with daily living rather than the highly skilled nursing or medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We found that this nursing home provided the vaccine to just 26.01156 percent of its patients, which is not a very encouraging sign. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care score. This is not a score to write home about. In calculating our short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This category is typically a solid measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Considering its score in this area, we weren't surprised to find that this place is well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Facility Inspections
Turning to our final category of inspections, this facility received a grade that's as bad as it gets. We weight this category more heavily than our other categories. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection grade. We recommend you pay close attention to the level of severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home had 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, we also want to point out that this place received large government fines in recent years of over $100,000. This often means that a bad performance has been an issue for several years.
