Short-term Care Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our short-term care rating. In our short-term care category, we strive to forge a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The more important thing is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
Facility Inspections
As it turns out, its inspection reports were not the source of this nursing home's abysmal overall grade. In fact, it received a C in this category. Inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were category G through L deficiencies. This tells you this facility dodged the more significant classes of deficiencies. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality
Surprisingly, we gave this facility a grade of C for its long-term care score, which really isn't too bad of a score. In the area of long-term care, we focus more on the amount of services provided by a facility, as opposed to more sophisticated services. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 93.33333 percent of its patients. This is somewhat below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final category we rated is nursing, which is this facility's least impressive category. We awarded this facility a D in that category. We looked at the qualifications of nurses working for the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time the nurses were with residents, in calculating our rating in this area. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This statistic is far below average. Unfortunately, this nursing home also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based metrics to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This nursing home was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this measure.
