Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home also earned first-rate government inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our best grades in that area, with a grade of A. Our inspection grades are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In addition, this facility also was given favorable short-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

This nursing home also was awarded a favorable long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it an above average grade of B in this area. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are kept in good health. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 96.850395 percent of its patients, which is higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital.
