Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we wanted to note its decent inspections in recent years. We awarded it a relatively respectable grade of B- in this area. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. This facility was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Nurse Quality
We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B-. Nursing grades are largely based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, which is not an impressive total. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
The third category we looked at was short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a B- in this area. Our short-term care grades are vital for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last metric we considered in this area is the number of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the fourth category, this nursing home was awarded a B- for long-term care, which is an acceptable grade. For residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility gave the vaccine to just 88.888885 percent of its patients. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
