Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving patients even once per day.

The last area we looked at proved to be this nursing home's worst category. However, even in its weakest link we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- for long-term care. Our long-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's volume of nursing care. This means a broad range of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 99.17012 percent of its residents, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
