Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid facilities with too many severe deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. In spite of this deficiency, this was still a relatively favorable report.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Our nursing score is primarily tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the area of long-term care. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 97.38806 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed is short-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is a very poor grade. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. As you might expect, we learned that this facility offers substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical nursing home. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
