Facility Inspections
On top of faring well overall, this facility received a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A+. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given high marks in the category of long-term care as well. Consequently, we gave it one of our most favorable scores in that area with a score of A-. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are well cared for. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 89.393936 percent of its residents, which is a bit less than we were hoping for. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we graded is short-term care. This facility was given an above average short-term care grade, with a B in the area. In crafting our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The last area we scored was nursing, in which this facility received a grade of C. This actually proved to be this facility's least impressive category. This is still not the end of the world. When determining our nursing ratings, we weigh both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This facility averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, which is well below average. Finally, we also factored some quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This facility was subpar in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are typically indicators of the quality of nursing care available.
