In addition to faring well overall, this nursing home received an excellent inspection report. Consequently, it received one of our highest scores in that area with an A. Inspection scores are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A-. In calculating our nursing ratings, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

We also would like to emphasize the fact that this facility was awarded a superb score of A- in our short-term care category. Our short-term care ratings are likely most important for people requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Moving on to the last area, this facility also performed well in the long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ for this category. This topped off a very impressive report card. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
