Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
This place's long-term care score outpaced its overall grade. In fact, we gave it a B for its long-term care score. Facilities that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more impressive category scores was in the category of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually fared better than most facilities in this category. In determining our short-term care scores, we analyze a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is more often than not a solid assessment of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-, which is a decent grade. In computing a facility's nursing grade, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are caring for patients and the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Facility Inspections
Turning the last category of inspections, we gave this nursing home a score of C for this category. Inspection scores are tied to several data points located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This facility was hit with 8 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in categories G through L. This indicates this facility avoided the more significant classes of deficiencies. We really did not consider anything on this place's inspection reports to be overly alarming.
