Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We awarded this facility an impressive grade of A- for our long-term care grade. This grade is much more impressive than the facility's overall score. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.91697 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A-. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this category tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our short-term care rating. This is not one of our better scores. Short-term care grades are generally employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services To offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. In this place's case, it looks like it provides fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 5.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's least impressive area is nursing, which is the last category we looked at. For this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of just D. The nursing rating consists of quite a few components, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
